Sending test emails: use GophishMe's free SMTP (not SendGrid or Mailjet)
Gophish needs an SMTP server — a "Sending Profile" — to deliver your simulation emails. Picking the wrong one gets your account suspended fast.
Use the free GophishMe SMTP relay
GophishMe provides a free SMTP endpoint built specifically for Gophish testing. Add it as a Sending Profile in Gophish and your simulation emails are accepted, captured and forwarded for analysis in an isolated environment — exactly the traffic it is designed for.
- Create a free GophishMe account to get your SMTP host, port and credentials.
- In Gophish, open Sending Profiles and create a new profile.
- Paste the GophishMe host, port and credentials, then send a test email.
Why not SendGrid, Mailjet or similar?
Transactional email providers such as SendGrid and Mailjet explicitly forbid phishing and phishing-simulation content in their acceptable-use policies. Even fully authorized security testing trips their automated abuse filters.
- Their terms of service prohibit deceptive and phishing content — simulations included.
- Spam and abuse detection flags the sending patterns almost immediately.
- Accounts are suspended with little or no warning, often permanently — taking any legitimate mail down with them.
A dedicated relay avoids all of this: it expects simulation traffic and will not ban you for doing exactly what it is built for.
Only run phishing simulations against systems and people you are explicitly authorized to test.
